The new domestic season is already underway, with La Liga having kicked off, while the Premier League gets going on Friday, August 21. The Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 will soon join the race as Europe’s biggest clubs begin another long campaign for domestic supremacy.
So, who will lift the trophies?
We put the question to our eight Striver.Football writers - Alex Younge, Patrick Finlay, Sulayman Salahudeen, Precious Damian, Thomas Adams, Jude Mercer, Robert Osborne and Krishnan Iyer - and asked them to look beyond the obvious title contenders.
Each writer has picked their champion, predicted the top four, selected their Golden Boot winner, most prolific assist-maker and goalkeeper for the most clean sheets, while also naming their Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, breakout star and biggest surprise.
The result is a collection of predictions that throws up some strong consensus - and some bold calls.
Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain will all feature heavily in the predictions, but our writers are far from unanimous across the five leagues.
From potential title challengers to surprise packages, breakout stars and players who could dominate the individual awards, here is how the Striver team sees the 2026-27 season unfolding.
Premier League Predictions: Arsenal Lead the Striver Title Picks
The Premier League is the first of the five leagues to feature in our predictions, and Arsenal emerge as the clear favourite among the Striver writers.
Five of our eight writers have backed Mikel Arteta's side to win the title, with Chelsea receiving two votes and Manchester City one.
| Writer | Title Prediction | Top Four |
|---|---|---|
| Alex Younge | Arsenal | Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd |
| Patrick Finlay | Chelsea | Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham |
| Sulayman Salahudeen | Chelsea | Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham |
| Precious Damian | Arsenal | Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City |
| Thomas Adams | Arsenal | Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City |
| Jude Mercer | Man City | Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd |
| Robert Osborne | Arsenal | Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd |
| Krishnan Iyer | Arsenal | Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City |
Arsenal Have the Consensus; But Not Everyone Is Convinced
Alex Younge, Precious Damian, Thomas Adams, Robert Osborne and Krishnan Iyer have all backed Arsenal to win the title.
Patrick Finlay and Sulayman Salahudeen have instead gone for Chelsea, while Jude Mercer is the lone writer predicting Manchester City to reclaim the crown.
The top-four predictions are more varied. Arsenal feature in all eight, while Chelsea and Manchester City appear six times each. Liverpool and Manchester United are selected four times apiece, while Tottenham feature twice.
That gives us three different champions across eight predictions, but Arsenal clearly lead the way.

The Individual Predictions
| Writer | Golden Boot | Most Assists | Most Clean Sheets | Player of the Season | Young Player of the Season | Breakout Player |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex Younge | Erling Haaland | Bruno Fernandes | David Raya | Declan Rice | Rayan Cherki | Christos Tzolis |
| Patrick Finlay | Alexander Isak | Morgan Rogers | Alisson Becker | Moises Caicedo | Rio Ngumoha | Trey Nyoni |
| Sulayman Salahudeen | Joao Pedro | Bruno Fernandes | David Raya | Joao Pedro | Morgan Rogers | Christos Tzolis |
| Precious Damian | Erling Haaland | Bruno Fernandes | David Raya | Bukayo Saka | Christos Tzolis | Chris Rigg / Zadok Yohanna |
| Thomas Adams | Erling Haaland | Bruno Fernandes | Alisson Becker | Dominik Szoboszlai | Junior Kroupi | Rio Ngumoha |
| Jude Mercer | Erling Haaland | Bruno Fernandes | David Raya | Declan Rice | Rayan Cherki | Johan Manzambi |
| Robert Osborne | Erling Haaland | Rayan Cherki | David Raya | Florian Wirtz | Rayan Cherki | Brian Madjo |
| Krishnan Iyer | Erling Haaland | Bruno Fernandes | David Raya | Martin Ødegaard | Rayan Cherki | Johan Manzambi |
Haaland Is the Clear Golden Boot Favourite
There is far more agreement among the writers when it comes to the Golden Boot.
Six of the eight predictions are for Erling Haaland, with Alexander Isak and Joao Pedro the only alternatives.
The Manchester City striker also has the strongest consensus among the individual categories. Bruno Fernandes receives six votes for most assists, while David Raya is backed by six writers to keep the most clean sheets. Alisson Becker receives the remaining two votes in the goalkeeper category.
The individual awards, however, become considerably more fragmented.
Rayan Cherki is the most popular Young Player of the Season pick, while the Player of the Season category has six different names across the eight predictions.
That makes the individual awards arguably more interesting than the title race, at least according to our writers.
The Surprise Picks
The biggest surprise-team predictions are similarly divided. Tottenham and Leeds United receive multiple votes, while Nottingham Forest and Chelsea also feature.
At the other end, Liverpool are the most frequently selected team to disappoint, while Everton and Manchester City also receive multiple votes.
For relegation, Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town feature prominently among the predictions, although Fulham, Leeds United, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest also appear.
Five writers have Arsenal winning the title. Six have Haaland winning the Golden Boot. Six have Bruno Fernandes topping the assist charts. But beyond those favourites, the predictions become much harder to call.
La Liga Predictions: Can Barcelona Complete a Three-Peat?
La Liga has already begun, but the biggest contenders are only now entering the campaign.
Barcelona are looking to retain their crown, while Jose Mourinho is back at Real Madrid with the immediate task of dethroning them.
His return has added another layer to what was already expected to be one of the most closely watched title races in Europe.
The Striver writers are slightly leaning towards Barcelona, with five of eight backing the defending champions. Real Madrid account for the other three predictions, meaning nobody expects the title to leave Spain's two biggest clubs.
The top-four predictions are similarly dominated by the usual suspects. Barcelona feature in all eight predictions, while Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid appear in seven each. Villarreal are next with five selections, but there are also individual votes for Athletic Club, Sevilla and Espanyol.
The La Liga Predictions
| Category | Striver prediction |
|---|---|
| Champions | Barcelona: 5/8; Real Madrid: 3/8 |
| Top Four | Barcelona: 8/8; Real Madrid: 7/8; Atletico Madrid: 7/8; Villarreal: 5/8 |
| Golden Boot | Kylian Mbappe: 7/8; Raphinha: 1/8 |
| Most assists | Lamine Yamal: 5/8; Dani Olmo, Arda Guler, Raphinha: 1/8 each |
| Most clean sheets | Joan Garcia: 5/8; Thibaut Courtois: 2/8; Jan Oblak: 1/8 |
| Player of the Season | Lamine Yamal: 5/8; Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rodri: 1/8 each |
| Young Player of the Season | Lamine Yamal: 4/8 |
| Breakout player | Yan Diomande: 3/8 |
Kylian Mbappe is the closest thing to a unanimous individual favourite, with seven writers backing the Real Madrid forward for the Golden Boot. Only one writer has gone for Raphinha instead.
The predictions are more divided when it comes to the player expected to define the season. Lamine Yamal leads the Player of the Season vote with five selections, while Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodri each receive one. Yamal also leads the Young Player of the Season category with four votes.
The most interesting prediction away from the established stars could be Yan Diomande, who receives three votes as the breakout player. The new Real Madrid signing is the only player to receive more than two selections in that category.
And while the title race is effectively a two-club contest in the predictions, Villarreal's five top-four selections are worth watching. They are comfortably the most popular alternative to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico, while Athletic Club, Sevilla and Espanyol each receive an outside vote.
For now, the message from the Striver writers is clear: Barcelona have the edge, Mourinho's Real Madrid are close behind, and almost nobody expects anyone else to crash the title party.
Bundesliga Predictions: Can Anyone Challenge Bayern Munich?
The Bundesliga produced the strongest consensus of all five leagues in the Striver predictions. All eight writers have backed Bayern Munich to win the title, making them the only unanimous champions across the five leagues.
The confidence extends beyond Bayern. Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen also feature in every single top-four prediction, while RB Leipzig are selected by six of the eight writers. Only two writers have gone outside that quartet, backing Eintracht Frankfurt instead of Leipzig.
That makes the Bundesliga unusual in our predictions: there is almost no disagreement over who should dominate the top of the table.
The Bundesliga Predictions
| Category | Striver prediction |
|---|---|
| Champions | Bayern Munich: 8/8 |
| Top Four | Bayern Munich: 8/8; Borussia Dortmund: 8/8; Bayer Leverkusen: 8/8; RB Leipzig: 6/8 |
| Golden Boot | Harry Kane: 8/8 |
| Most assists | Michael Olise: 6/8; Harry Kane: 1/8 |
| Most clean sheets | Manuel Neuer: 5/8; Gregor Kobel: 2/8 |
| Player of the Season | Michael Olise: 6/8; Harry Kane: 1/8 |
| Young Player of the Season | Lennart Karl: 3/8; Paul Wanner: 2/8; Ibrahim Maza: 2/8 |
| Breakout Player | Jobe Bellingham: 3/8; Lennart Karl: 2/8; Assan Ouedraogo: 1/8 |
Harry Kane is the most emphatic individual prediction of the entire Bundesliga survey. All eight writers expect him to win the Golden Boot. There is no disagreement whatsoever on that front.
The more interesting individual prediction is Michael Olise, who receives six votes for both Most Assists and Player of the Season. The Bayern winger is therefore expected not just to contribute creatively, but potentially to emerge as the league's outstanding player.
There is also strong confidence in Bayern between the posts. Manuel Neuer receives five votes for most clean sheets, with Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel taking the other two valid selections.
The emerging-player categories are considerably less settled. Lennart Karl leads the Young Player of the Season vote with three selections, while Paul Wanner and Ibrahim Maza receive two each. In the breakout category, Jobe Bellingham leads with three votes, with Karl close behind on two.
And then there is the top-four race. Bayern, Dortmund and Leverkusen are unanimous selections, while Leipzig's six votes put them comfortably ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt, who receive two.
So the Striver verdict is remarkably clear: Bayern Munich are everyone's champion, Harry Kane is everyone's Golden Boot winner, and the real question is whether anyone can make the champions sweat.
Serie A Predictions: Inter the Clear Favourite to Retain the Title
The Striver writers are heavily backing continuity in Italy, with Inter receiving seven of eight votes to win Serie A. Only one writer has gone against the reigning champions, making Inter one of the strongest favourites across our five leagues.
The top-four predictions are more competitive. Inter and Juventus feature in all eight predictions, while Napoli appear in seven and AC Milan in five. That leaves the battle for the Champions League places considerably more open than the title race itself.
The Serie A Predictions
| Category | Striver prediction |
|---|---|
| Champions | Inter: 7/8; Napoli: 1/8 |
| Top Four | Inter: 8/8; Juventus: 8/8; Napoli: 7/8; Milan: 5/8 |
| Golden Boot | Lautaro Martinez: 7/8; Goncalo Ramos: 1/8 |
| Most assists | Nico Paz: 4/8; Federico Dimarco: 2/8; Matteo Politano: 1/8; Paulo Dybala: 1/8 |
| Most clean sheets | Yann Sommer: 4/8; Mile Svilar: 1/8; Joseph Martinez: 1/8 |
| Player of the Season | Lautaro Martinez: 5/8; Nico Paz: 2/8; Nicolo Barella: 1/8 |
| Young Player of the Season | Nico Paz: 4/8; Kenan Yildiz: 2/8; Francesco Camarda: 1/8; Rodrigo Mora: 1/8; Francesco Pio Esposito: 1/8 |
| Breakout Player | Francesco Pio Esposito: 3/8; Davide Bartesaghi: 1/8; Rasmus Højlund: 1/8; Kerim Alajbegovic: 1/8; Jacob Ramon: 1/8 |
Lautaro Martinez is the clearest individual favourite in Italy, with seven of the eight writers backing him for the Golden Boot.
He also leads the Player of the Season predictions with five votes, giving the Inter captain a chance to dominate the two headline individual awards.
Nico Paz is the most prominent challenger to the established stars. The Como midfielder receives four votes for Most Assists and four for Young Player of the Season, while two writers also see him as the league's Player of the Season. His name appears repeatedly across the predictions, making him one of the players our writers are most interested in watching.
The top-four predictions are also revealing. Inter and Juventus are unanimous selections, while Napoli miss out in only one prediction. AC Milan are the preferred fourth choice, receiving five votes, but there is clearly less certainty once the three leading clubs are accounted for.
The next generation is more difficult to call. Nico Paz leads the Young Player of the Season race, while Francesco Pio Esposito receives three votes for Breakout Player. Kenan Yildiz also features prominently, while several other youngsters receive individual backing.
There is room for an outsider story too. Como are repeatedly identified as the team most likely to surprise, with Fiorentina and Lazio also receiving individual mentions.
The overall picture is therefore clear: Inter are the overwhelming favourite to retain the Scudetto, Lautaro is the overwhelming Golden Boot pick, but the fight behind the champions could be considerably less predictable.
Ligue 1 Predictions: PSG Remain the Team to Beat
The Striver writers see a familiar outcome in France, with Paris Saint-Germain receiving seven of eight votes to win Ligue 1. Only one prediction breaks from the consensus, with the rest expecting PSG to continue their domestic dominance.
The more interesting question is whether anyone can make the champions work for it. PSG, Marseille, Monaco and Lens are the four clubs most consistently appearing in the predicted top four, although there is considerably more variation than at the top of the table.
The Ligue 1 Predictions
| Category | Striver prediction |
|---|---|
| Champions | Paris Saint-Germain: 7/8; AS Monaco: 1/8 |
| Top Four | Paris Saint-Germain: 8/8; AS Monaco: 6/8; Olympique Marseille: 5/8; RC Lens: 5/8 |
| Golden Boot | Ousmane Dembele: 3/8; Ferran Torres: 2/8; Esteban Le Paul: 1/8; Mason Greenwood: 1/8 |
| Most assists | Ousmane Dembele: 2/8; Achraf Hakimi: 2/8; Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: 2/8 |
| Most clean sheets | Gianluigi Donnarumma: 1/8; Matvey Safonov: 2/8; Dominik Greif: 1/8; Lucas Chevalier: 1/8; Robin Risser: 1/8 |
| Player of the Season | Ousmane Dembele: 3/8; Vitinha: 2/8; Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: 1/8; Joao Neves: 1/8 |
| Young Player of the Season | Desire Doue: 3/8; Lamine Camara: 1/8; Valentin Barco: 1/8; Ibrahim Mbaye: 1/8; Mika Godts: 1/8 |
| Breakout Player | Ibrahim Mbaye: 2/8; Mika Godts: 2/8; Ayyoub Bouaddi: 2/8; Bradley Barcola: 1/8 |
PSG's dominance is reflected most clearly in the top-four predictions: every writer expects them to finish in the Champions League places, while Monaco, Marseille and Lens emerge as the leading candidates to join them.
The individual awards are considerably less predictable. Ousmane Dembele is the leading Golden Boot pick with three votes, while also collecting the most Player of the Season selections. However, Ferran Torres receives two Golden Boot votes, with several other names appearing once.
Desire Doue leads the Young Player of the Season predictions, while the breakout category is particularly open. Ibrahim Mbaye, Mika Godts and Ayyoub Bouaddi all receive two votes, suggesting that our writers see several young players capable of making their mark.
There is also a slight contradiction in the predictions: PSG are expected to win comfortably, but several writers believe the chasing pack can make Ligue 1 considerably more competitive than the title vote suggests. Lyon, Monaco, Marseille and Lens all receive individual backing as potential surprise stories.
The consensus remains familiar, though: PSG are still the team to beat in France. The real question is whether anyone can turn Ligue 1's title race into a contest.
What the Striver Writers Predict for the 2026-27 Season
Across the five major European leagues, the Striver predictions reveal a mixture of heavy favourites, emerging challengers and plenty of disagreement over what happens behind the champions.
There is strong consensus in some countries. Bayern Munich, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain command clear support from our writers, while the Premier League and La Liga produce much closer title predictions.
But the predictions are not simply about who lifts the trophy.
From Lautaro Martinez and Harry Kane leading the Golden Boot conversations to young names such as Nico Paz, Desire Doue and Lennart Karl attracting attention, our writers have also picked out the players they expect to define the 2026-27 season.
The top-four races could prove even more interesting. Established giants dominate the predictions, but there are also plenty of potential disruptors, clubs that could turn a familiar Champions League picture on its head.
And then there are the surprise packages. Como, Lens, Real Betis, Bayer Leverkusen and other clubs feature in predictions for breakthrough campaigns, showing that not every interesting story sits at the very top of the table.
Of course, these are predictions, not certainties. That's precisely what makes them interesting.
The 2026-27 season is only getting started. Now we wait to see which Striver writer gets it right, and which prediction looks completely ridiculous by May.
